(Assessment Basics 2014)
Assessment is an important aspect of education as it not only is a tool to give students feedback to improve their work but also a way educators can make informed judgements on how students are learning, what they have learnt, and what they need to learn. Another important reason for assessment is that it enables educators to be able to construct informed reports on student progress and what could be done to improve them (Department of Education, Training and Employment, 2014).
