Purpose and Intention of the Unit
The purpose of this unit is to look at how the ANZAC's have contributed to the development of Australian society using the focus text Soldier Boy, by Anthony Hill, as a reference of how things were during this time. Students will use this then to reflect on their own experiences, and that of their families. This text will also be used as an example of text structure and organisation, how to express and develop ideas and how language features can be used when creating their won texts.
Significant demonstration of learning expected from all learners by the end of the unit.
By the end of this unit students will construct a short story from the perspective of an ANZAC or their family detailing important events that took place, and how these events influenced society, beliefs, values and economics. This short story can be developed using written, spoken and digital or multi-modal devices depending on students needs and/or abilities.
